Take a Glider Ride

Sandhill Soaring Club is pleased to offer sailplane rides to the public. Gift certificates are also available to share the experience with friends and family.

Glider Rides and Discovery Flights

Imagine a view of the countryside as only the birds see it. The soft sound of the wind whispering over the canopy. The challenge of staying aloft using the power of the sun alone. That's the essence of soaring…and you can experience it for yourself at Sandhill.

Located an easy drive from the Detroit metro area, Sandhill offers rides most weekends from April to October. Rides are given by our FAA certified pilots and can be scheduled by contacting the club. Arrangements may also be made for group events at the field.

Cost

• Standard glider fleet: $60
• High performance glider: $80
• Winch launch: $30 (shorter duration, but an experience not to be missed)

Flights typically last 20 minutes and are payable by cash or check at the airport. Our guest brochure is also available for download.

Gift Certificates

Glider rides make a great gift for the aviation enthusiast, as well as a little "something different" for everyone. Gift certificates may be purchased by mail, and are also available at the airport on weekends the club is active.
